Sound Level Warning

Our loud category mufflers are extremely loud - 95+ dB at idle. They will create significant interior drone, potentially violate noise ordinances, and wake up your neighbors.

Best suited for: Weekend/show vehicles, track/race use, rural areas, drivers who don't mind attention.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the loudest street-legal exhaust option?

The loudest street-legal options are typically glasspacks and short straight-through mufflers, but 'street legal' depends on your local noise laws - many areas limit exhaust to 95 dB. Systems marketed as 'race' or 'off-road only' exceed most legal limits. For maximum loudness that's reasonably legal in most areas, look for aggressive chambered mufflers or long-tube glasspacks.

Will a loud exhaust affect my gas mileage?

A loud performance exhaust itself won't significantly hurt gas mileage - in fact, reduced backpressure can slightly improve highway MPG. However, most people with loud exhausts drive more aggressively to enjoy the sound, which does hurt fuel economy. The exhaust isn't the problem; the right foot is. Expect roughly stock mileage with normal driving.

How can I make my exhaust louder without replacing the whole system?

The most effective single change is replacing the muffler with a more aggressive design - glasspacks or compact straight-throughs. You can also do a resonator delete if your car has one. Adding exhaust cutouts lets you bypass the muffler when you want maximum volume. Each step increases loudness without replacing the entire system.

Is there a way to have loud exhaust only when I want it?

Yes - exhaust cutouts or valve systems let you bypass the muffler for full volume, then close for quiet mode. Many newer vehicles have factory active exhaust with valves controlled by drive modes. Aftermarket electric cutouts are also available to add this functionality to any vehicle. This gives you loud when you want it, quiet when you need it.

What's louder - a muffler delete or a glasspack?

A muffler delete (straight pipe) is louder but sounds worse - raw, raspy, and droney with no tone shaping. A glasspack provides nearly as much volume but shapes the sound to be aggressive yet somewhat refined. Glasspacks also look better, are easier to reverse, and maintain more resale value than a welded-in straight pipe.
